I am passionate about researching the factors that allow us to become more resilient in life, including our ability to regulate our emotions, self-compassion, and financial well-being. I am currently working as a Research Fellow at Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect), doing research on how self-compassion may improve the mental health and well-being of autistic adults and parents of autistic children. Findings from my research work and collaborations have been published in over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and I have presented my research at various national and international conferences.
At Aspect, I have co-produced an online self-compassion program for autistic adults with Dr Chris Edwards, which has received the Autism CRC Awards for Achievement in Autism Research for Research Translation (2023) and Mental Health Service Awards of Australia and New Zealand (2024).
Not only do I conduct research on inner compassion, I have been practicing self-compassion in daily life for many years. I am passionate about doing research on compassion because I have seen how developing inner compassion has transformed my life. This is also why I love mentoring people and teaching them evidence-based compassion strategies that we can integrate in daily life and learn to thrive in life, not just survive.
I have completed training in various evidence-based compassion programs, including the Mindful Self-Compassion program and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
